3G-third generation of mobile phone standards and technology.

3G is the third generation of mobile phone standards and technology, after 2G. It is based on the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) family of standards under the International Mobile Telecommunications programme, "IMT-2000". 3G technologies enable network operators to offer users a wider range of more advanced services while achieving greater network capacity through improved spectral efficiency. Services include wide-area wireless voice telephony and broadband wireless data, all in a mobile environment.

Unlike IEEE 802.11 networks, 3G networks are wide area cellular telephone networks which evolved to incorporate high-speed internet access and video telephony. IEEE 802.11 networks are short range, high-bandwidth networks primarily developed for data.

In December 2005, 100 3G networks were operating in 40 countries, according to the Global mobile Suppliers Association. In Asia, Europe, and the USA and Canada, telecommunication companies use W-CDMA technology with the support of around 100 terminal designs to operate 3G mobile networks.

Features

The most significant feature of 3G mobile technology is that it supports greater numbers of voice and data customers — especially in urban areas — and higher data rates at lower incremental cost than 2G.

By using the radio spectrum in bands identified, which is provided by the UTI for Third Generation IMT-2000 mobile services, it subsequently licensed to operators. 3G uses .5 MHz channel carrier width to deliver significantly higher data rates and increased capacity compared to 2G networks.

The .5 MHz channel carrier provides optimum use of radio resources for operators who have been granted large, contiguous blocks of spectrum. On the other hand, it also helps to reduce the cost to 3G networks while being capable of providing extremely high-speed data transmission to users.

It also allows the transmission of 384 kbit/s for mobile systems and 2 Mb/s for stationary systems. 3G users are expected to have greater capacity and better spectrum efficiency, which allows them to access global roaming between different 3G networks.

Liz Murray - Inspiring message of triumph

Liz Murray - Inspiring message of triumph

As a teenager, Liz Murray stood on a street corner in New York, rocking back and forth as she felt the weight of the decision before her. She had just enough money to pay for a subway ride to her next interview at one of the last two alternative high schools that hadn't turned down her plea for admission.
Or she could make her way back to the Bronx, buy pizza for dinner and try to find a place to spend the night.
"The greatest challenge really came not in my circumstances, but in believing in what I did," Murray told more than 6,000 Bryan school employees Friday. "No matter what the circumstances were, I had a choice."
Murray, whose life was chronicled in the Lifetime television movie Homeless to Harvard, was the keynote speaker at Bryan's back-to-school convocation at Central Baptist Church.
Murray told the audience of teachers, staff and administrators that she got on the train and headed to the next interview, fully expecting to be rejected once again.

But a teacher named Perry Weiner saw Murray's potential and would accept nothing but her best, giving the young girl the chance to turn her life around.
"He didn't ask for my transcript. He didn't want to know my GPA," Murray told the audience. "I shared everything with that man."

Murray told Weiner how she and her older sister had lived in a trash-strewn, filthy apartment in the Bronx. Their parents were drug addicts, and when the welfare check came at the first of each month, the family of four would go to the "drug spot" and her parents would buy cocaine and heroin, Murray said.

Liz Murray

Liz Murray (born September 23, 1980) is an American inspirational speaker who is best known as having been homeless in her youth, and as having overcome her hardship to achieve success.Murray was born in the Bronx, New York, to poor, drug-addicted, HIV-infected parents. She became homeless at age 15, when her mother died, and her father moved to a homeless shelter.

Murray's life turned around when she began attending the Humanities Preparatory School in Greenwich Village. Though she started high school later than most students, and remained without a stable home, Murray graduated in only two years. She was awarded a New York Times scholarship for needy students and accepted into Harvard for the fall of 2000.

Murray's life was the subject of the 2003 Emmy-nominated Lifetime TV movie Homeless to Harvard: The Liz Murray Story, of which Murray was the co-executive producer. Actress Thora Birch played Murray, and Murray played a cameo role as a social worker.

Murray's memoir, Breaking Night, was published by Hyperion Books in 2005 (ISBN 0-7868-6891-0). Murray now works as an inspirational speaker, represented by the Washington Speakers Bureau.

BLAKE OUTLASTS SANTORO

James Blake outlasted 34-year-old Frenchman Fabrice Santoro 6-4 3-6 6-2 4-6 6-4 in three hours, 25 minutes on Thursday night at the US Open.

Blake, who grew up in nearby Fairfield, Connecticut, had been 0-9 lifetime in five-setters, while Santoro - hitting two-handed strokes off both wings - had been 19-14.
The 27-year-old Blake appeared to seize control of the match with a dominant third set, but he was broken in the opening game of the fourth.

The American immediately countered, and did so again after losing his serve at 2-2, but he was unable to do so a third time after Santoro broke him in the ninth game.

Serving at 2-3, 15-all in the decisive set, a cramping Santoro took a medical timeout to have the trainer work on his legs, allowing Blake to take a quick bathroom break.
When play resumed, Santoro won the next three points to level the set.

As play continued past midnight, Blake saved three break points at 4-4. In the next game, Santoro jumped to a 30-love lead but Blake won the next three points and ended the clash with a crosscourt backhand winner that the Frenchman could only fling his racquet toward.

Blake will face Austrian Stefan Koubek in the third round.

Fabrice Vetea Santoro

Fabrice Vetea Santoro (born December 9, 1972) is a French professional male tennis player. He was born in Tahiti, the largest island in the French Polynesia, located in the Pacific Ocean.
Santoro has been most successful in doubles; he has twice won the Australian Open (2003, 2004) doubles title partnering Michael Llodra and has been runner-up at the Australian Open (2002), at the French Open (2004) and at Wimbledon (2006). In 2005 he won the Roland Garros mixed doubles title with Daniela Hantuchova.

In addition to his doubles prowess, Fabrice is noted for his cheery attitude on court and his vast arsenal of trick shots, making him a crowd favorite. His varied and innovative style of play has earned him the nickname The Magician.

Santoro plays with two-hands on forehand and backhand, and though he is right-handed, often slices his forehand with the left hand. He attributes this to his having used racquets of the same weight through out his career, which made it too heavy for a six year old starting off a career, to hold with one hand.[1] Santoro has beaten many former world number one players including Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras, and is famous for his record against Marat Safin. At 34, he is currently the second-oldest player in the ATP Top 100 (after Jonas Bjorkman).

Brian the hen !!

Brian the hen !!

Brian came home from the pub late one Friday evening stinking drunk, as he often did, and crept into bed beside his wife who was already asleep. He gave her a peck on the cheek and fell asleep. When he awoke he found a strange man standing at the end of his bed wearing a long flowing white robe.

"Who the hell are you?" demanded Brian, "and what are you doing in my bedroom?". The mysterious Man answered "This isn't your bedroom and I'm St Peter". Brian was stunned "You mean I'm dead!!! That can't be, I have so much to live for, I haven't said goodbye to my family.... you've got to send me back straight away".

St Peter replied "Yes you can be reincarnated but there is a catch. We can only send you back as a dog or a hen." Brian was devastated, but knowing there was a farm not far from his house, he asked to be sent back as a hen.

A flash of light later, he was covered in feathers and clucking around pecking the ground. "This ain't so bad" he thought until he felt this strange feeling welling up inside him. The farmyard rooster strolled over and said "So you're the new hen, how are you enjoying your first day here?"
"It's not so bad" replies Brian, "but I have this strange feeling inside like I'm about to explode". "You're ovulating" explained the rooster, "don't tell me you've never laid an egg before". "Never" replies Brian "Well just relax and let it happen"

And so he did and after a few uncomfortable seconds, an egg pops out from under his tail. An immense feeling of relief swept over him and his emotions got the better of him as he experienced motherhood for the first time. When he laid his second egg, the feeling of happiness was overwhelming and he knew that being reincarnated as a hen was the best thing that had happened to him... ever!!!

The joy kept coming and as he was just about to lay his third egg he felt an enormous smack on the back of his head and heard his wife shouting,

"Brian, wake up you drunken bastard, you're shitting in the bed"

guys i am still laughing...This joke is a masterpiece...too funny...too funny ...

Birtday Gift....

"IN PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS"

Birtday Gift...real funny...

A wife decides to take her husband to a strip club for his birthday.

They arrive at the club and the doorman says, "Hey, Dave! How ya doin'?"
His wife is puzzled and asks if he's been to this club before. "Oh, no," says Dave. "He's on my bowling team."

When they are seated, a waitress asks Dave if he'd like his usual and brings over a Budweiser.
His wife is becoming increasingly uncomfortable and says, “How did she know that you drink Budweiser?"

"She's in the Ladies' Bowling League, honey. We share lanes with them."
A stripper then comes over to their table, throws her arms around Dave, and says "Hi Davey. Want your usual table dance, big boy?" Dave's wife, now furious, grabs her purse and storms out of the club.

Dave follows and spots her getting into a cab. Before she can slam the door, he jumps in beside her. He tries desperately to explain how the stripper must have mistaken him for someone else, but his wife is having none of it. She is screaming at him at the top of her lungs, calling him every name in the book.

The cab driver turns his head and says, "Looks like you picked up a
real bitch tonight, Dave."
