we the students of Marian engineering are going on an indefinite strike from 5-3-2007
againt the injustice done in this college against us.
it has been too long since we have been putting up with many pressures a
nd unwanted rules in this college we have been paying more than the.

1. We should get a satisfactory explanation about the incident in which Vinshu a student
in S6 CS is beaten up badly by paid anti socials under the command of one of our staff members,
Mr. Jackson. We demand an appropriate action to be taken against him with immediate effects.
2. Last year there was holi celebration and even the photo of the same was published
in our college magazine 2005-2006. But this time holi celebration was considered a crime
and people who celebrated holi was refrained from getting into the college bus.
This action must be taken back and students those who have paid the bus fee must
be given permission to continue using college bus. Any action taken just because of celebrating holi
should be stopped.

5. The quality of our teaching staff is regularly degrading and many in experienced teachers
are not teaching well in the class. This may be due to flaw in the selection of teachers or because
they don’t get proper training in new subjects introduced in the changing syllabus. We need
able teachers to teach us and they should be given training in the newly introduced subjects.

6. There are to teachers who have been interfering in unwanted matters, the names are Mr. Ullas
and Mr. Joseph of the mechanical department. They interfere say that their should be discipline
in the college. Even sitting some where peacefully in side our campus is considered a breach of
discipline by these people. There too people are Christian religious extremists who are trying
to impose their idea of being discipline on us which is beyond the boundaries of normal college rules
. They make rules instantaneously when they see something that they don’t like. They must be given
warning not to interfere in matters that they don’t have any charge for.

7. In our college now listening to music even at lunch break is banned.
We do have many tensions and worries in the college hours and we don’t have anything in our
college for relaxation for a few moments that are given to us in the form of beak.

8. During the previous visit of officials from the university of Kerala,
they had given us an assurance that we don’t have to pay any more than the fee
that the government had decided for us. But we r still been asked to pay fees at
the beginning of each semester in the form of registration fee. This should be stopped.

9. All s6 students have to pay a sum of 500 Rs for the CGPU in our college.
Last year 160 students paid this that is around 90,000 Rs, above that every student
who got job through the CGPU paid 4000Rs that is the total is well above 1.5 lakhs.
But the college CGPU never used this much or even 10% of this money for its functioning.
Either the collection of money like should be banned our there must be corresponding
developments and functioning to all the money the CGPU collects from the students.

in our college, the post so called BURSAR is for the money management of an educational institution
and do he must be kept away from the students affair.

11. The principal in our college is merely a puppet in the hands of those who rule the
college who actually must not interfere in the official matters of the college.
Most of the time when we approach him for anything, the answer will be “my hands are tied”,
or “I don’t have the power”, or “go ask bursar or manager”. The principle must be the highest
official of a college’s academic matters and student’s affair. He should be given enough powers
and must be allowed to work with out unwanted pressures from the above.

its own who is an expert in that branch. Only them we can communicate our needs effectively
to each other. More over an HOD in each branch will lead to more attention over the academic
matters of the students and let the students and teachers co-operate and work effectively under
an able leadership.

13. We the students of the college are restricted from using the internet lab for
sending and reading mails. Communication being the ultimate aim of internet, denial of mailing
is a big blow on the face of technology. Even now there r students who are studying in
Information Technology branch who don’t know how to create a mail ID.
So the access to internet lab for surfing and mailing must be allowed to students.
Other wise all including teachers must be refrained from accessing the mails from internet lab.
After all we are the once who pay for these facilities.
